Amos Payne

Amos L. Payne, 66, of Circleville, died March 17, 2013 at Berger Hospital. He was born October 12, 1946 in Pickaway County, the son of Fred and Viva (Chaney) Payne. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam War, retired from State of Ohio Dept. of Corrections and life member of Amvets Post 2256. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Harris; brother, Fred Payne, Jr. and sisters, Thelma Sheets and Florence Russell. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Harris) Payne; sons, Joseph Ferguson and Amos Payne, II; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Hazel (Carl) Lynn of Circleville and Glenna Brown of S. Bloomfield. Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday March 20, 2013 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 21, 2013 in Forest Cemetery with military graveside honors. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wellman Funeral Home in Amos's name. After the graveside service, you are invited to join the family at Amvets for a gathering.
