Annie Mowery Ruff

Annie (Mowery) Ruff, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Pickaway Manor following a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Mowery) Raines of Circleville and a son Ray (Karrie) Mowery of Canal Winchester. She was a cherished grandmother “Nana” to Kimberly (Eitel) and Erik Ekis, Karen (Eitel) and Michael Meuller, Lisa Mowery, and Emily Mowery. A proud great “Nana” to Evan, Aidan and Eli Ekis and Andrew Michael Meuller.
Annie was preceded in death by her first husband, George F. Mowery and second husband, Herbert Ruff. Born as Esther Ann on Nov. 23, 1918 in Ashville, she was the eldest and last surviving child of Russell and Margaret (Moss) Reid. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Dorothy Cook and Ethel Cook, and a brother Russell Reid, Jr. She was a 1935 graduate of Ashville Harrison High School. She married George Mowery in 1944 and became homemaker on their farm in Jackson Twp. She also lived a few years in West Liberty and then in the Amanda area. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church and the Pickaway Senior Center. She loved traveling and was able to have visited all 50 states. Other passions were watching The Ohio State football and basketball games and the Cincinnati Reds. She was quite the “sports” enthusiast! A special thanks to the caregivers at Pickaway Manor Assisted Living, Pickaway Manor Care Center, Berger Hospice, and Victoria Terrace for their care of our mother. Also a huge thank you to Karen Vest and Charlie Raines for all the visits and time you spent with her these past months. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18 at the funeral home with Rev. Barry Burns officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Twp. Cemetery.
