Barbara Jayne (Barthelmas) Moore

Barbara Jayne (Barthelmas) Moore, 86, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away Friday, September 27, 2024.  She was born in Circleville, Ohio on November 10, 1937 to William J. and Marguerite L. Barthelmas.  She grew up on her family’s farm in southern Pickaway County, Ohio.  She loved working on the farm and had many great memories of farm life.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Moore.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, an older brother William Jennings Barthelmas, Jr. and two younger sisters Marilyn Jean and Sandie Jill Barthelmas.  She is survived by her brother, Steven J. (Denise) Barthelmas of Circleville and two children John (Denisa) Moore of Plano, Texas and Jennifer (Jose) Perez-Hernandez of Canal Winchester, Ohio.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 53 years.  She graduated from Circleville High School in 1955.  She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the Ohio State University in 1959.  She retired from the Orient Correctional Institution in Orient, Ohio in 1998.  While at Orient she was the Nursing Supervisor at Frazier Medical Center on the night shift for 10 years.  She loved traveling.  Her family and friends enjoyed listening to her many stories of when she traveled to Japan, the Philippines and New Guinea in the early 1960’s.  Her favorite place that she visited was New Guinea.  She also traveled to The Canary Islands in Spain in 1999.  She is loved and missed by all of her friends and family members.  God be with you, Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and friend until we meet again.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 North Court Street, Circleville, Ohio with the funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Reber Hill Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
