Betty Lowery

Betty R. Lowery, 86, of Laurelville, died June 15, 2012. She was born October 18, 1925 in Hocking County, the daughter of Oakley and Bess (Weaver) Steele. She was a lifelong resident of Laurelville, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She traveled across the United States from Needles, CA to Massachusetts and from Alabama to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with her late husband, Harold “Shorty” Lowery laying the United States pipeline. She left her loving heart and character in hundreds of small towns and big cities. Betty met thousands of new friends and acquaintances during her lifetime. Betty loved her children, family and community. She especially loved each and every one of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Tracey and Shawn Norman and Tara Lowery; siblings, John and Bobby Steele, Sharon Goode and Joanne Lutz. She is survived by her children, Janice (Lee) Norman, Rita (Ray) Tatman, Terry Lowery, Ronald “Keith” (Kris Henson) Lowery; grandchildren, Brent and Shannon Norman, Randy (Sue) Tatman, Renee (John) Gozy, Rachelle (Matt) Matney, Robin Tatman, Rayna Morgan, Andrea Lowery and Ronald “Tyke” (Teresa) Lowery and Brandon “Keith” Lowery; many loving great grandchildren; special sister, Mary Lou Lehman of Laurelville; and sister, Donna (Chuck) Haynes of Stoutsville; brother, Glenn Steele of Hallsville and special nephew, Case Goode. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 21, 2012 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. The family will gather after funeral services at the Laurelville Senior Center.
