Betty (Dawson) Rife

Betty Sue Dawson Rife, 80, of Circleville, Ohio, went to her eternal home on February 12, 2022.  She was born on January 23, 1942, in Clear Fork, WV to Chester and Louise (Smith) Dawson.

She was the beloved and cherished wife of the late William “Hank” Rife.  Their marriage was a beautiful example of how to walk through life’s sunshine and rain.  They were preceded in death by 2 sons, William “Keith” Rife and Wayne “Kevin” Rife for whom their hearts never stopped grieving, yet together, they carried on with great love and strength for their other 2 children.

Betty is survived by her son, Frank (Amy LaVeck) Rife, daughter, Larissa (Kevin) Bowers and grandchildren Chaney Bowers and Ren Bowers; her brother, John Dawson; her very special nieces and nephews and many wonderful family and friends.

In addition to her parents, husband, and sons, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Dawson, Chester (Jr) Dawson, Bob Dawson, and Bill Dawson as well as her dear sister, Barbara Jean Davis.

Growing up, Betty was a car hop at her family’s drive in restaurant.  She could tell you the make and model of any car from that era.  Her favorite dance was the jitterbug and she knew every song on the jukebox by heart. She loved hanging out with her friends, ordering her clothes from a catalog, and Elvis.

After High School, Betty attended Cosmetology School and became a licensed beautician.  She owned her own hair salon in WV until moving to Ohio with her husband.

Visitation will be held at Wellman Funeral Home on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at Circleville Church of Christ on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Service at 1:00 p.m. There will be a meal provided by her church family following.
