Betty McCray Stevenson, 78, of Circleville unexpectedly, yet peacefully, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2015. Betty was born to the late Thomas and Etta (Beddow) McCray on August 22, 1937. Betty was a graduate of North High School in 1956. Shortly after she met and married the love of her life, G. Bruce Stevenson of Circleville, which is where they would call home and start their family. She was blessed with three children; Robert McCray Stevenson, Janet Sue Stevenson and Thomas Bruce Stevenson. Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years; G. Bruce Stevenson along with her grandchildren; Robert Nelson, Elisabeth Nelson and Reva Fulk. A very special great granddaughter; Shania Lewis. She is also survived by her siblings; Janet (McCray) Clarke and Thomas McCray both of Tennessee and a special daughter-in-law; Tammy Stevenson. Betty has 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will deeply miss her. Betty was warmly welcomed into heaven by her children, as well as her parents and grandparents. Betty lived a devoted life to her family. She attended both the Ohio State University as well as Columbus Business College. Betty served on the Jackson Township Zoning Board and was the President of the Jackson Township PTA. She was also a member of the La Sertoma. After retiring from LDM Tech, she would spend the next 14 years working at Walmart where she was cashier, only to switch to be a door greeter. Betty loved her job, getting to talk to everyone who came in and out of Walmart. If you came into Walmart you were sure to be greeted with her warm loving smile and kind spoken words. Family would ask for any donations to be made to Wellman Funeral Home in Betty’s name or the American Heart Association. Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Betty on Friday November 13, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Wellman Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Wellman Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Forest Cemetery. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
