Carl Edward Azbell, 96, of Circleville, passed away December 6, 2010 at Berger Hospital. He was born November 1, 1914 in Logansport, IN, the son of Edward and Lena (Champ) Azbell. They moved to Lancaster when he was a small child. Carl had been a born again Christian for over 70 years and left this world to be received in Heaven by his Wonderful Savior. He had been in declining health for less than a year prior to his death. He was a long time member of Fairview United Methodist Church at Stoutsville and transferred his membership to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church years later. He was very active in both churches and served His Lord in many capacities. He was active in Stoutsville Camp Meeting Association and served as their caretaker for many years. He was known as a kind and gentle man who always spoke positively about anyone or any situation. He and his wife, Frances, operated a dairy and grain farm near Stoutsville for 40 years. He had also worked 20 years at the Producers Livestock sale and was a self employed carpenter. He served on the Boards of Education for Stoutsville and Amanda Clearcreek School Districts. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Adams) Azbell of Circleville. They had been married for almost 72 years. Also surviving is a daughter, Donna (Dan) Dailey, two step grandsons, James Robert (Marianne) Dailey of Alaska and Jon Phillip (Beth) Dailey of Circleville and Warminster, PA; step great granddaughters, Elizabeth of Alaska and Brigid of Warminister, PA; nieces, nephew and many cousins. He was predeceased in death by his parents; an infant brother, Vernon Charles Azbell; sisters, Elma (Azbell) Huey and Edith Eleanor (Azbell) Johnston. Funeral service will be held Saturday December 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, with Rev. Charles Hemming and Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Calling hours will be observed on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons or Berger Hospice.
