Carl R. Long, 87, of Williamsport, died September 17, 2017 in Columbus. He was born February 3, 1930 in Lucasville the son of William Homer and Alma (Morgan) Long. Carl was an Army veteran, life member of American Legion #618, member of NRA since he was 16 years old and retired from E.I. Dupont after working from 1957-87. Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and shared his love of nature, hunting, fishing, and cherry pie with everyone. He and his sense of humor will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and Dave and sister and brother-in-law Alma Jean (Don) Adams. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Garrison) Long, children Bonnie (Mark Ralston) Long of Connecticut, Randi (Wilma) Long of Williamsport, Jan Long of Circleville and John (Sally Wallace) Long of Circleville, grandchildren Matt Ralston (USAF) of England, Rachel Ralston of Oakland, CA, Jennifer (Tracy) Darst of Ashville, Doug (Parisa) Long and Kristina (Mark) Rigo both of Grove City, Alexandra (Matt) Stiffler of Grove City, Haley (Michael) Carge of Grosse Pointe, MI and Madison Long of Cincinnati, great grandchildren Nia, Liam, Sophia, Luke, Liliana, Hannah, Brian and Emma, brothers Darrell (Carol) Long of NC and Charles (Jeanine) Long of Upper Arlington. Funeral service will be held 11:00 Thursday September 21, 2017 at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Williamsport and Deercreek Emergency Services or American Legion # 618.
