Charles F. “Fred” Davis, 90, born January 12, 1925 in Oak Hill Ohio and a resident of Circleville passed away November 18, 2015 at Winchester Place, Canal Winchester. He graduated from Oak Hill High School where he earned 4 football letters and 4 basketball letters. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and became an Aviation Radioman 3rd class. He served at Great Lakes IL., Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Memphis TN., Miami FL., and Corona CA. He was honorably discharged in February 1946. While in the service he became interested in airplanes and flying, so he took flying lessons and got his pilot’s license. Having a variety of interests he held several jobs and retired from the telephone company. He was a former member of Sertoma and Pickaway Country Club and is a member of Amvets, the Elks and Pickaway Senior Center. Fred enjoyed playing golf, fishing and going to the harness races at Scioto Downs. At one time he and a neighbor owned and raced a horse called Circle Ned. He was preceded in death by all of his immediate family and his wife Vivian (Potts) Davis. He is survived by his wife; Colleen (Weber) Davis, nieces; Debbi Conley and Donna Fultz of Oak Hill, Sharon Smith of Dayton, nephews; Bill Davis of Oak Hill, Tommy Davis of Columbus and Jim Coe of Springfield, step-sons; Dan (Connie) Weber of Ashville, Don Weber of Columbus and Jeff Weber of Lewis Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Reber Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Amvets. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
