Charles Lester Wampler, 83, of Stoutsville, died September 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1929 in Carter County, KY, the son of Isaac and Georgia (Applegate) Wampler. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving at Lockbourne AFB and was a P51 Mustang mechanic, a 32nd degree Mason, commissioned Kentucky Colonel, life member of the NRA, 49 year member of Lithopolis Lodge 169 and member of the Reese Community Baptist Church since 1969 and served as a deacon for 41 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Joe, sisters Dana Bennet and Inez Boggs and infant sisters, Doris and Naomi. He is survived by his wife of 65 wonderful years, Lavada (Osborn) Wampler; children, Charles (Angeline Graves) Wampler, of Ray, OH, Linda (Gene) Carr, of Beckley, WV, Patricia Davis, of Lancaster, Isaac (Dianne) Wampler of Circleville and Joyce Wampler of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Alma Jean (Roger) Caton, of Lithopolis and Phyllis McKenzie of Amanda. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday September 24, 2012 at Reese Community Baptist Church, 1929 Daughtery Ave. Columbus, OH 43207, with Pastors Tad Miller and Jeb Cain officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
