Charles LeRoy Tomlinson, III Obituary

October 29, 1952 – March 15, 2024

Charles, also known best as “Chuckie”, was born at Berger Hospital and was the younger son of Barbara R. (Salyers) and Charles L. Tomlinson, Jr.  He was one of the first students at Brooks-Yates school, attended Circleville City Schools, and later moved to Lake Worth, Florida where he graduated from Lake Worth High School.

He was a bat boy for the Circleville Oil softball team and an avid participant (basketball and bowling) as well as supporter of the Special Olympics.  While in Ohio, he worked for the Pickaway County Workshop for several years and later for Publix Supermarkets in Florida.  He was proud to have been honored by Publix when he retired after 22 years of customer service.

He was an active member of the Shriners, Masons, Moose, Eagles, Elks, Son of AmVets, VFW and American Legion, both in Florida and in Ohio.   Chuckie was known for his kindness and friendly smile which made him friends to many.

He is predeceased by his parents as well as his stepmother, Louella Tomlinson.  He is survived by his brother Joseph (Kathy Frericks), who both assisted in his care in Florida and later in Circleville.  He is also survived by step-sisters Sherree Jankiewicz (Tony), Kimberly Caldwell (Kenny, deceased), Paula Beale and Michael Beale.  Additionally, he is survived by his uncle, Paul Salyers and aunt, Elizabeth Arledge as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to the wonderful care provided through National Church Residences Hospice especially to Chaplain Aaron Hines, Lindsey Howard, Collin Docterman, Adri Lewis, Robin Bruschar and Michelle Nunley.  Additionally, the family is thankful for the extraordinary kindness and care provided at Brown Memorial Home during his last week.
