Corina Joy Stump, 76, of Laurelville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Corina lived a life of faith, love, and service to others.
Born on September 27, 1948, to Bernice and Howard “Bud” Thompson, Corina grew up cherishing family and faith. She was a lifelong member of Pleasant Ridge Church, where she found joy in serving as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, Vacation Bible School volunteer, member of the Ladies' Prayer Band, and church decorator. Her love for music shone through as she sang alongside her mother and sisters, filling the church with harmony and praise.
Corina was blessed with a loving family. She was the beloved mother of Scott Stump (Tina) and Stefanie Rohr (Mick), and a proud grandmother to Casey, Christian, Will, and Alex, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage from 1968 until his passing in May 2022.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Pearlena Johnson. She is survived by her devoted sisters, Bonnie Karshner, Brenda Thompson, and Twila Martin, who were not only her family but also her closest friends.
A dedicated small business owner, Corina co-owned a flower shop with her sister Twila until a tragic car accident in 2002. Though she no longer had the shop, her love for flowers never faded—she continued planting and nurturing beauty wherever she could.
Corina found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cross-stitching, collecting Christmas decorations, drinking tea, and indulging in her love of shoes. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, and her favorite Bible verse, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, reflected the way she lived—with patience, kindness, and an enduring love that never failed.
Her legacy of faith, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her viewing will be held at the Wellman Funeral Home in Laurelville on Thursday, February 6 at 4pm through 7pm. A service to honor Corina’s life will be held at Pleasant Ridge Church on Friday February 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
Corina’s love for her family, her church, and her community will never be forgotten. She is now reunited with her dear Larry and her loved ones in Heaven, where she will continue to sing in the choirs of angels.
