David C. Betts, 91, of Circleville, passed away Jan. 3, 2009 at Logan Elm Health Care Center. He was born May 1, 1917 in Pickaway County to George W. and Josie May (Dornsife) Betts. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George and Ned and sister Mary Kathryn Betts. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Betty Jane (May) Betts, children; Patsy (George) Amlin of Pocopson, PA, Nancy (Doug) Sparks of Woodville, OH and David (Nedra) Betts of Circleville, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. David graduated from Circleville High School in 1935; he enlisted in the United State Army in October of 1941. He served in the North Africa Theater of operation in WW II until the spring of 1943 at which time he was taken prisoner by the German armed forces. He was discharged from the Army in October of 1945. David returned home to farm with his brother. He married Betty Jane May on November 4, 1947. David was employed by the DuPont Co. in 1956 and retired after twenty four years of service. He sold real estate for Circleville Realty and Gibson Realty respectfully for over thirty years. He was a life member of the American Prisoner of War Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, BPO Elks and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Larry Reed Farris officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
