David Perry Schlichter, 79, of Circleville, went home to be with our Lord, October 19, 2013 at Brown Memorial Nursing Home. He was born December 16, 1933, the son of Orlie Andrew and Goldie (Stevens) Schlichter. David was a devoted husband and father that loved his family. He was a proud American and Veteran of the USMC, a member of the USMC League, American Legion and Amvets, a devoted supporter of International Missions and a DuPont retiree. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Orlie Andrew Schlichter, Jr., sisters, Mary Katherine Fischer and Dorothy Schlichter and his wife of 53 years, Neva Swackhammer Schlichter. He is survived by his children, G. Dennis (Glenna) Schlichter and Jeanne (Mark) McCall of Circleville, Jerry Wharf of Colorado, Joellen (Tom) Byerly of Morrow and Chaplain Major David R. (Suzann) Schlichter of Fort Huachuca, AZ; grandchildren, Brandon and Benjamin Schlichter, Steve and Amy Wharf, Janice Finch, Bob and Andrew Byerly, Timothy and Jennifer McCall, Jordan Schlichter and Johannah Leslie and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 24, 2013 at First Church of Christ in Christian Union. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Brown Memorial Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CCCU Mission Dept, Brown Memorial Nursing Home or Heartland Hospice.
