Eric Reid

Eric Matthew Reid passed away on May 11, 2023.  He was born April 26, 1983 in Columbus, Ohio, a beloved son and proud dad of daughter Courtney Reid.  His father, Robert Reid, preceded him in death.  Also surviving are mother Jeanette “Jan” Reid, brothers David McIntyre and Brandon Reid, an aunt and uncles, several cousins, nieces and a nephew.   He enjoyed staying in contact with his Aunt Darlene from New Jersey.  Matt was a gentle and caring person, a man of honor who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, taking care of his pets, family gatherings, watching the birds, and most of all,m being a dad to Courtney.  He often spoke of spending time on the family farm with his grandparents, whose enduring love of family left a huge impression on him.  He enjoyed the outdoors with his brothers, and they were all in scouting and baseball, fishing and roller skating as kids.  Matt was a happy child with a sweet smile.
Matt really enjoyed reading about and customizing his bikes and truck, spending hours tinkering with them while listening to music.  He enjoyed grilling out and going to car shows as well as watching NASCAR on TV.  He helped anyone who needed it, and enjoyed socializing with other car buffs.

Matt graduated from the Ohio Technical College in 2006 with a degree in autobody, something he loved.  Located in Cleveland, school took him away from young Courtney, and he regretted that he had to be so far away.  He wanted to get his degree to make a better life for his family, and his favorite job was detailing and finishing ambulances at Horton’s Emergency Vehicles.  In his later years Matt was in a terrible motorcycle accident and endured other hardships that gave him compassion for others.  These tests made him stronger.  Matthew will be greatly missed by his family.  We love you always and forever.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Cemetery.  Visitation is on Friday from 11-1.  Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
