Ernest Hurley Profile Photo

Our brother, Ernest Eugene “Gene” Hurley took his final walk in this life when he was quietly and gently taken to Heaven on October 6, 2012. Gene was born March 17, 1933, grew up and spent most of his young adult life in the rural countryside of Pickaway County near “Fox” located not far from Circleville. Gene was a long time National Guardsman and a Veteran. He spent many of his later years in Columbus where he worked mainly in law enforcement areas. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Sherman Hurley and mother, Frances Hurley. Gene is survived by his brother, Larry Hurley; sisters, Nancy Hurley Johnson and Myrna Hurley Campbell along with several nieces and nephews. Gene was a gentle, caring person who will be missed greatly by his brother and sisters as well as his friends and acquaintances in Columbus. Gene greatly enjoyed his freedom while loving to roam around the countryside, as he often did when he was young. He lived his life as he chose and he also left this life as he chose. Gene will have private graveside services and be placed at peace and rest in Jackson Cemetery in Fox, near where he grew up. Gene was a free spirit who always loved to roam the countryside, walking, singing and yodeling, all of which he is now doing in the hands of God, who will surely bless him and welcome him with open arms into the everlasting bliss of eternal life. Arrangements were completed by the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
