Eugene Karshner

Eugene “Gene” Karshner, 85 of Laurelville, passed this life at his residence on October 2, 2011. He was born November 26, 1926 in Hocking County, the son of Fred and Mary (Smith) Karshner. Gene worked as a heavy equipment operator all his life, as well as farming and tending livestock on his Moccasin Valley Farm until his retirement in 1988. After retirement he continued helping Brent on the farm. Gene was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his step-daughter, Karen Hulse Wiget; grandson, Brent and Stephanie (Black) Swackhamer; two very special great grandsons, Trevor and Brayden who he cherished greatly, all of Laurelville; close cousin, Lou Ann (Ralph) Morehart of Circleville and their family. As a lifetime resident of Hocking County, Gene will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched, especially the staff at Village Café in Laurelville and the many people who followed him on his daily trips into town.
