Eugene “Gene” McCain, 75, of New Holland passed away on March 6, 2017. He was born on September 15, 1941 in Circleville to James and Lois (Robinson) McCain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Dennis McCain, ½ brother Ronnie McCain and by a cousin Ike Myers. Gene, a Vietnam Navy Veteran, was retired from shipping and receiving at Mid State Bolt and Nut, life member of VFW #3331, Past Seam Squirrel Pup Tent 71 M.O.C. and life member of Eagles #685. He is survived by his wife Bonnie (Clapper) McCain, children Geraldine Gatten, James (Beth) Porter, Terrie (Randy) Little, Ginnie (Ralph) Ard, grandchildren Kendra Little, Ashley Cope, Jimmy Porter, Jason Smith, Maddy and Noah McCain, great grandchildren Xavier and Conner Smith, Andy and Ansley Carpenter, brothers Bob (Sandy), Jim (Peggy), Gary (Tammy) McCain, and by sisters Mary Lou (Albert) Betts, Suzanne Jackson, Roseanne (Jimmy) Walker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:30 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Pastors Chip Koch and Malcolm Buck officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at New Holland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30 until 2:30. Memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice.
