The clock of life is wound but once
And no one has the power
To start or stay it’s traveling hands
For even one short hour …

On Thursday, October 15, 2015, Faith’s hand met the Lord as He called her home. Faith “Marie” Heath, age 90, formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio, died at The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Faith was a member of the Franklin Avenue United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio. A native of Evergreen, Ohio, Faith is the daughter of Victor and Mayme Queen. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Heath, brothers, Paul (Jean) Queen, Dwight (Alberta) Queen, Thomas (Judy) Queen, Luther Queen along with her sisters, Freda Rose Queen and Vera (Jullian) Davenport and a niece Becky Queen. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Dottie Queen of Oak Hill and Bea Fortson of Stout, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a very special childhood friend, Ms. Patty Skidmore Sprague of Evergreen, Ohio. Faith graduated from Bidwell-Porter High School in 1943, giving the class valedictorian speech. As her father Victor and all of her brothers and sister Vera, she enlisted to serve our country. She served in the Air Force from 1951 – 1954 during the Korean War. After returning home, she resided in several large cities eventually moving to Portsmouth where she spent most of her adult life. She was very proud of her family and their service to our country. She told of a brush with fame while living in Los Angeles, California as she passed Lana Turner, a well-known actress at that time. She always smiled telling that story. She enjoyed a recent visit from an Elvis impersonator at The Ohio Veterans Home. At her request no service will be observed. Her burial will take place at Little Mound Cemetery in Richmond Dale, Ohio on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM with a military graveside service. Faith’s family would like to extend our sincere appreciation for those who have watched over her during her illness, including the staff on the 2nd floor of The Ohio Veterans Home where she received excellent care, along with the staff from Crossroads Hospice of Cincinnati, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Faith’s memory to Crossroads Hospice, 4380 Glendale Milford Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242. Arrangements are under the direction of Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, Ohio. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
