Freddie Lee Mahoney, 72, of Adelphi, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died February 8, 2015 at home surrounded by family. He was born October 28, 1942 in Hocking County the son of the late James Mahoney and Lerma (Azbell) Smith. He is survived by loving wife Dorothy “Dottie” Rose of 52 years, brother; Glenn (Mona Toole) Mahoney of Laurelville and sister; Jane (Dallas) McNichols of Laurelville, children; Freddie Lee (Babe) Mahoney Jr., Adelphi, Julia (John) Barrow, Londonderry and Gary Allen Mahoney, Adelphi, grandchildren; Ashley Mahoney Smith, Nicholas Thurston, Whitney (Christopher) Wrightsel, Zachary (Victoria) Mahoney and Emily (Tyler) Demit, great grandchildren; Jayden and Ava Smith, Mason Wrightsel and Carson Demit. He was a dedicated truck driver owning his first truck at age 15 and drove for many different companies till he retired at age 70. Fred also loved camping and fishing. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 12, 2015 at Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with burial in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Laurelville on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all doctors, nurses and staff of Adena Regional Cancer Center where they wish memorial contributions be given.
