Fredrick Gene Harless, 79, of Laurelville went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 when his heart of gold stopped beating after an extended illness while at the Monterey Care Facility, Grove City. He was born February 22, 1931 in Columbus, the son of Harry and Katherine (Ellis) Harless. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ Christian Union, where he became known as the “Candy Man”. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Glenna (McNichols) Harless in 2009 after 59 years of marriage. Also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy, Neva, Stella, Virgie, Marjorie and Delphia and brother, George Harless. He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Grimes of Columbus, sons, Steven (Deloris) Harless of Lockbourne and Russell (Cathy) Harless of Orient; 8 grandchildren, Rocky, Ronald, Andrea, Roxanne, Becky, Diana, Jeremy and Sarah; 10 great grandchildren; brother-in-laws, Ralph McNichols of Circleville and Donald (Nancy) McNichols of Columbus; sister-in-laws, Donna McNichols of Laurelville and Wilma Bayer of Largo, FL; many nieces, nephews and friends that will truly miss him. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday August 22, 2011 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
