Georgann (Porras) Butler

Georgann Porras Butler passed away with her family at her side on August 20, 2023 at The Wyngate in Circleville. Georgann faced a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease with the loving support of her husband and entire family.

Georgann of Circleville was born on October 15, 1938. She attended school in Lakewood, Ohio and graduated from Saint Augustine Academy High School in 1957. Georgann enjoyed dance in her youth as well as attending sporting events at the local boys Catholic High School. At a basketball game with her best friend, Ruth Ann, Georgann said to Ruth, see that boy over there, I’m going to marry him one day. Georgann did meet the boy, James, in 1953. They became high school sweethearts. They married in 1958.

Together they had five children, Deborah, Dawn, James, Lisa, and Michele. They moved to Circleville in 1967. James’s work saw them move from Circleville in 1979; living in Westerville, OH; Paris, France; Pittsburgh, PA; and retiring in Savannah, GA. They returned to Circleville in 2005.

While raising her five children, Georgann enjoyed bowling, crafts and attending the numerous sporting events, recitals, and other school events of her children. Georgann later took up golf while she enjoyed seeing her family grow to include spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Georgann is survived by her husband James; her brothers Richard and Ken both of Cleveland, OH, and her sister Sandy also of Cleveland; her daughter Deborah Hoffman and John of Circleville, OH, daughter Dawn Lake and Jeff of Titusville, FL, son James Butler and Ron Goggans of Campton, NH, daughter Lisa Linkhorn and Neal of Westerville, OH; along with eight grandchildren Kelsey, Brooke, Adam, Sean, Andee, McKenna, Cody and Abby; and four great-grandchildren Charlie, Vance, Teagan, Benjamin.

Georgann was proceeded in death by her beloved mother Hilda, father George and youngest daughter, Michele.

There will be a mass on August 24, 2023 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Circleville at 10am, followed by a private burial at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
