George W. Sparks, Sr., 88 of Circleville, passed away peacefully November 18, 2012 at Berger Hospital. He was born May 11, 1924 in Mecca, IN, the son of George Elza and Mary Alice (Whittmeyer) Sparks. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran and retired from General Electric. He drove stock car #321, was known as “Speedy Sparks” and won many races. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeff Sparks and siblings, Maxine, Harley, James and Donald. He is survived by his wife, Roseanna (Dean) Sparks; children, Darla (Matthew) Kirkpatrick, George W. (Nadine) Sparks, Jr., Dana (Patty) Sparks and Tami Sparks; 15 grandchildren, Nancy (Duane) Baker, Mary (David) Moore, Kathy Irwin, Tina (Darryl) Mayo, Chad (Janet) Melson, Eric (Sondra) Melson, Jenna (Joey) Beckman, Jennifer (Doug) Clay, Deanna (David) Jackson, Jason (Nicole) McDougle, Stephanie (Aaron) Easter, Amanda DeMint, Dustin Hill, Jason Hill and Samantha (Larry) Seymour; 37 great grandchildren and cat, Patrick that he called Mo. A family service will be held Wednesday November 21, 2012 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pickaway Twp. Fire Dept. or Berger Hospice.
