Gerald Howard Martin, 83 of Danville, OH passed peacefully in his sleep at his daughter’s home in Kingston, OH on August 19, 2024.
He was born June 15, 1941 in Hallsville, OH to the late Cyle and Otha (Imler) Martin.
Howard was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Helen (Winters) Martin, his son Gerald “Marty” Martin II, grandson, Zachari Lee Alan Martin, sisters, Bette Archer Brown, Martha Frazier, Lorraine Stephens and brother Franklin Martin.
Howard is survived by his children, Travis (Mary) Martin, Terra (Jim) Wilhelm, Rebecca “Becky” (Kenny) Hedges. His daughter-in-law Karen Martin. His sisters, Julia Poling, Marilyn Price and brother Glenn Martin. His sister-in-law, Marzetta Martin. His grandchildren, Mike (Betty) Martin, Chris (Sarah) Seckman, Brandon (Chelsea) Martin, Andreia (Montana) Ward, Ashley (David) Boldoser, Tiffany (Justin) Johnson, Jesse Hedges, Desiree Hedges, Katie (Paul) Holcomb and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, the mother of his children Edith Martin, several close friends and his loyal companion Jack.
Howard was a member of the first graduating class of Logan Elm high school 1961. He retired from General Motors UAW 969 in 1993. In retirement he enjoyed his Belgian draft horses and his farm in Knox County. He enjoyed singing in “The Howard Martin Band” at his Church Howard UMC in Howard, OH. He was known for always having a smile and a joke to tell and making up funny songs, always humming and singing songs. He always had the best hair and somehow, he would take his hat off and it would still look perfect! In his cb days he was known as Gray Beard.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Imler Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
