Gerry B. Poling, 66, of Laurelville, died August 9, 2012 at OSU Hospital. He was born October 14, 1945 in Hocking County, the son of Theodore and Mildred (Peck) Poling. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War; self employed carpenter and former owner of Giovanni’s Pizza. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard, Clyde, Lloyd and Garry; sister, Mona Hettinger; fathers-in-law, William Ebert and Paul Smith and brothers-in-law, Max Ebert and P.D. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Ebert) Poling; sisters, Violet Thompson, Donna Swackhammer, Amy Karr, Wanda Johnson and Janet Amerine; brothers, Norman (Norma), Delbert (Arlene) and Jerald “Pete” (Bobbie) Poling; mother-in-law, Geneva Smith; sister-in-law, Paula (Jim) Fetherolf and special niece, Torrye and nephews, Jordan and Philip. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday August 13, 2012 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery with military honors.
