Helen M. Turner, 72, of Circleville, OH, passed away at home on Saturday, September 12, 2009 after a three-year battle with gastric cancer. She was born in West Alexandria, OH, the daughter of William and Arvie Sizemore, and was a 1954 graduate of West Alexandria High School. On July 30, 1955, Helen and Forrest were married in Richmond, Indiana and recently celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary. Forrest and Helen moved throughout Ohio during their marriage, and they were longtime residents of Ashland, Athens and Circleville. While living in Ashland, Helen was the secretary at Osborn Elementary School. In Athens, she worked at GTE, the Pepsi Bottling Plant, and managed Turner Auctioneering. Helen is survived by her husband, Forrest; son, Randy (Vikki) of Lockbourne; daughter, Robbyn Turner of Athens; three granddaughters, Rori Yarger, Adrian Reynolds and Auldyn Matthews; three grandsons, Ryan Turner, Rusty Turner and Turner Matthews. Helen also has six great grandchildren. Known best for her generous hospitality, home-cooked meals and Christmas goodies, Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a caring, giving person who consistently put others first and her open heart and keen listening skills will be missed by many. Decorating the home, creating beautiful gardens, entertaining and camping were just a few of Helen’s interests. Helen was a member of the Northridge Church of Christ in Circleville. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 N. Court St. in Circleville. Visiting hours are Tuesday, September 15, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral, which will be officiated by Steve Newhouse of Rogersville, TN, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Hitler Ludwig Cemetery.
