H.T. “Hank” Motley, Jr. 82 was born June 9, 1930 in Virginia and departed this life on November 14, 2012 in Circleville, at the residence of grandson Jose` Travis, after a lengthy battle with cancer, for the last 5 months, where he was lovingly cared for by Jose`, Krista and kids. He left Virginia at a very young age, grew up in NY and joined the Army at 17. He retired after 20 years of service including Korea & Vietnam. After he retired, he moved to Ohio where he met & married Betty Thomas. He was a Columbus Police officer and also owned the Ambassador Club. They were married 16 years before her passing. After a long while he moved to SC but came back to Ohio to spend his last days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Eula Randolph and step-daughter, Lanie. Hank is survived by his daughter, Andrea Motley Crabtree of SC; step-daughter, Vicki (Jack) Ragland of Circleville; grandchildren, Eric, Marco and Jack Crabtree, Jose` (Krista) Travis of Circleville and Jodi Ragland of Lancaster; great grandchildren, Jalen, Chris, Angyl, Abagail, Gage, Angelo and Auri Travis; nephew, Lionel (Daphne) Randolph of NC; niece, LaVanna “Honey” Hatcher of NY; special friend, Craig Harris of Columbus and other family and friends, Susan & David Harris and family of SC. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday November 19, 2012 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Berger Hospice. The family wishes to thank Berger Hospice for their loving care and support.
