Iris Lavern Darst went home to her Lord and Savior, September 17, 2024.  She was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia on February 23, 1957 to Virgil and Ruby Halley.  She was a fervent believer in her Lord Jesus Christ and lived to share her faith with anyone who cared to listen.  She was passionate and loyal to her family and loved little more than to enjoy a family dinner and lead the laughter.  Her sense of humor brought her personality to the forefront of many family gatherings.

Through the years Iris consistently stated that she did not have “in-laws”, only family-referring to her “in-laws” as her parents, her brothers and her sisters-nieces and nephews were likened to simply having more children.

Iris was a lifelong learner, whether it be returning to Ohio Dominican to earn her Master Degree, or asking Darlene how to make her blackberry cobbler.  She thoroughly enjoyed spending hours in the kitchen on holidays and watching her family enjoy her family recipes.

Iris’ integrity was beyond reproach.  You always knew where you stood with her and she was consistent in her beliefs and opinions.  She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Ruby as well as William and Darlene Darst.  Iris is survived by her loving and heartbroken husband of 48 years, Wm. Dean Darst, her loving children Johnathan (Kim) Darst of Glenford, Ohio, Alaina (Mark) Lockie of Cleveland, Tennessee, brothers and sisters Ike (Tami) Halley, Williamsport, Ohio, Randy Darst (Cindi McFarland), Grove City, Ohio, Beth (Joel) Nash, Collinsville, Oklahoma along with aunts and uncles, Marlene (Dick) Wills, Emma Estepp, Ronnie Wolford and Richard (Carla) Wolford, grandchildren, Blake, Brody, Abi and Jonah, nephews and nieces, Adrian, Evan, Allan, Morgan, David, Jennifer and Lisa.  Last but not least Iris will be greatly missed by her fur babies, Dolly, Lilly, Bella, Tyson and Nova Lee.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at noon at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fernwood Cemetery.  Visitation is on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon at the church.  The family would like you to fill the church with purple in honor of Iris.  Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
