Jack Booth

Jack David Booth, 93, of Chillicothe, Ohio died October 3, 2014 at home. He was born September 16, 1921 in Hundred, WV, the son of William Gillispie and Jessie Pearl (Whitlatch) Booth. He was a graduate of WVU and was a registered electrical engineer. He retired from the International Nickel Company in Huntington, WV, after over 30 years as a project manager in their nondestructive testing labs. He was a faithful member of The Church of Christ, and served as a teacher, a deacon, and then an elder at Norway Avenue Church of Christ in Huntington, WV, for many years; he had served on The Board of Directors for Midwestern Children’s Home near Cincinnati, OH; a supporter of Ohio Valley Christian University, Parkersburg, WV and of countless missions, church plantings and charities. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia E. (Taylor) Booth; his parents; William Gillispie and Jessie Pearl (Whitlatch) Booth; by his brothers, Carl, Earl Victor “Vic”, and Clayton “Buck” Booth, and their spouses; and by a niece, Caroline Booth. He is survived by his daughter, Joy Ann (Roger L.) Sharp; by his grandchildren, Shelli K. (John R. Ballasch) Sharp, Jason (Emily J.) Sharp and David (Deborah M.) Sharp; by his great-grandchildren; Samantha and Nathaniel Manns, Karla J. and Jack W., Eva Ann and Ella Marie Sharp; special extended family, Joseph E. (Jessica) Manns, and their children, Ryan and Emily; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wellman Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:15 until the time of service at 10. A Graveside service will be at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, WV at 2:00 on Saturday.
