Jack Robert Stephens, age 78, of Circleville, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at home with his family by his side. Born November 14, 1934 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Hazel (Collins) and Joseph Stephens. Served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a welder in Columbus, OH, for various organizations. A true family man, Jack enjoyed spending time with family, watching a good NASCAR race and fishing. He was a member of AMVETS Post 2256 and American Legion Post 134. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim and Tom Stephens, and sister Lillian Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorraine Stephens; children, Carol (Bill) Salyers, Chris (Lynne) Stephens, Lana Jenkins, Robert (Marcy) Stephens, William (Amber) Stephens, Tonya (Tim) Richardson; sisters Josephine Longwell, Doris Greathouse, and Betty Jordan; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Thursday, September 19 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, and 11 am- 1 pm Friday, September 20; the service will follow at 1 pm with burial at Forest Cemetery, Circleville. The family would like to thank the caring medical staff of the OSU Ross 2 Team and the Berger Home Hospice.
