James F. Diltz, 88, of Circleville, died April 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 2, 1925 in Amanda, the son of Virgil and Mary (Reid) Diltz. He was a 1943 Washington Twp. High School graduate, WWII Army SSgt serving in European & Pacific Theaters with the 1284th Combat Engineer Battalion. On November 27, 1946 he married Lottie Ann Rutter and they were married 67 years. He was a supervisor of grounds and maintenance and essential materials for DuPont for 33 years. He was a Pickaway County Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Charles Radcliff, was a mechanic for Evans & Markley Ford and restored cars of his own. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Buckeye Sheriff’s Association and Studebaker Drivers Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Retha Eccard, Ruth Grooms, Alice Clifton and Minonette Diltz; brothers, Ralph, Dale and Roger Diltz. He is survived by his wife; son, James L. (Linda) Diltz of Circleville; granddaughters, Leslie M. (Jason) Robinson and Amy (Danny) Miller; 2 great grandchildren, Henry James “Hank” Robinson and Jane Catherine Robinson; sisters, Clara (Bob) Dumm and Marilyn Zwayer; brother, Karl (Liz) Diltz; brother and sister-in-law, Damon and Leona Barnes and sister-in-laws, Suzanne and Helen Diltz. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday April 25, 2014 at Calvary UMC. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery with military graveside honors. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary UMC or Berger Hospice.
