James L. “Jim” Hoffman passed away November 24, 2011 at Pickaway Manor following a 5 year battle with Churg Strass Syndrome. He was born December 6, 1934 in South Bloomfield, the son of the late L.W. “Bud” and Marvine (Binkley) Hoffman. Jim was also preceded in death by a brother, David and in laws, Clyde and Mary Turner. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Beverly (Turner) Hoffman, daughters Tina (Paul) Lind and Rose Marie Greenlee, grandchildren Leanne and Derek Greenlee all of Circleville, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, sister, Ann Elizabeth (Donnie) Miller of Circleville, sister-in-law Billie Jean Hoffman of Columbus, nephews David Hoffman, Craig, Brian and Cliff Miller, nieces Susan Hoffman Weinberg, Stephanie Fraley and Jamie Donaldson, 4 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews. Jim served 4 years in the U. S. Navy. He did 3 tours of duty in the Mediterranean aboard the aircraft carriers USS Randolph and USS Intrepid. He was a 1952 graduate of Circleville High School and retired from DuPont with 33 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as custodian and loved helping with bereavement dinners for a number of years. Jim enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of oak furniture for his girls and grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday November 28, 2011 at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Springbank Cemetery, Ross Co. The family wishes to thank Pickaway Manor and Berger Hospice for the special bond that was formed between Jim, Beverly and the staff and residents. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Berger Hospice.
