James Daniel Russell Sr.

James Daniel Russell Sr., 70, of Circleville went to be with the Lord on Friday March 23, 2018.  He was born on March 7, 1948 in Circleville, Ohio to Charles and Addie (Smith) Russell.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Lowell Hunter Sr. and Jack Russell of Circleville.  Jim was a 1968 graduate of Circleville High School.  He retired from Pickaway County Engineering Department and was part of the crew that built the new facility.  Jim was a member of the Lowery Lane Church Community Mission Board in Circleville, a Sunday School teacher and board member for 5 years at Adephi  Community Church, member of The First Church of Christ in Christian Union of Circleville for 40 years where he was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, board member and bus driver, and a Senior Citizens Keenager Group Leader along with his wife Judy, was one of the founders of the Four Saints Gospel Singers and was also a member of the Home Lighters Quartet.  Jim also loved going fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons.  James is survived by his wife Judy (Holbrook) Russell, son Jimmy (Heather) Russell Jr. of Kingston, daughter DeAnna (Ron) Stevens of Florida, grandchildren Chandler (Brad) McKnight of Kingston, Brooke Russell of Chillicothe, Jordan and Jacob Russell both of Kingston, Sabastian and Jazman Stevens both of Florida, 2 great grandchildren Hunter and Rylee McKnight of Kingston, 2 sisters Betty Maxwell of Texas, Delores (Donald) Brown of Circleville, brother Gary Russell of Circleville, several nieces and nephews and by special friends, Kenny and Janet Haddox, Maxine and Kermit Haddox and Jason, Crissy and Sadie Haddox.    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastors Jim Vandagriff and Jay Neff officiating with burial to follow in Forest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wellman Funeral Home; Circleville on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home in Jims name.  Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
