James Sweet

James Eldon Sweet, 68, of Stoutsville, formerly of Mount Sterling passed away on August 1, 2023.  He was born on June 20, 1955 in Columbus to Robert and Iris (Hughes) Sweet.  He had worked in maintenance for Stephens Pipe and Steel for 30 plus years, was a former volunteer fireman for Mount Sterling and former employee of the State of Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Douglas Sweet.  James is survived by his wife Brenda Sue Sweet; his children Christina Valentine, Robert (Tammy) Sweet, Bobbie Jo Thompson and Danny Thompson;  grandchildren Alyssa, Taylor Imler (Zach), Mallory (Colton) Cope, Carlee Imler, Kayloni Thompson; great grandchildren Layne Bailey and Austyn Cope; siblings Linda (Chet) Clemans, Denise Sweet and Billy Jo Sweet and by his beloved pets Gizmo and Tia.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 11-1.    Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
