Jimmie Vanover

Jimmie Lee Vanover, 85, of Laurelville passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 8, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1939 the son of the late James and Imogene (Yaple) Vanover on October 21, 1961 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 63 years Eileen (Elliott) Vanover who survives. Jimmie is survived by his children Marilyn Collier, Jerry (Cheryl) Vanover, Rodney (Angel) Vanover all of Laurelville and Melissa (Gregory) Sahr of Lowden, Iowa; grandchildren Asa Brewer (Breonna), Kaylee Collier (Tommy). Skylar Sands, Jonathon (Brooklyn) Vanover, Jenny Vanover (Jordan), Brad McCown Jr. (Paige), Kiersten McCown, Christian (Lacie) Jordan, Gavin Sahr, Brice Sahr and Ethan Sahr; great grandchildren Brexton Jordan, Ryker and Atlas Brewer, Brayleigh, Brexleigh, Braxton, Brycen and 2 on the way. In addition to his parents Jimmie was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl, Chester, James Jr, Donald, Jack and Billy Vanover; sister Mary Nelson and great grandson Camden. Jimmie was a retired truck driver and worked with his brother Jack Vanover logging, through the years he was a mechanic, horseman, part-time auctioneer and many other odd jobs for anyone that needed help. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was also an avid fan of Nascar racing and Dale Earnhardt, in his earlier years he raced at the local dirt track using the #87 a tradition carried on by his sons and grandson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with burial to follow in Pike Run Cemetery.
