John W. Carter, Jr., 81, of Circleville, died October 29, 2008 at Berger Hospital. He was born August 13, 1927 in Circleville, son of John W. and Evelyn (Imler) Carter, Sr. He was retired Sr. Master Sergeant from the Ohio Air National Guard after 33 years of service. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII 1945-1947. He also served during Vietnam and Korean Wars and the Berlin Wall Crisis with the Ohio Air National Guard from 1953-1978. He was a 1979 graduate of Columbus State Community College. After retiring from the military, he was a realtor with W.D. Heiskell Realty and also was a self-employed property manager. John served as clerk for Circleville Twp. Trustees for many years. He was associated with Outreach Ministries Church. He was also a winter resident of Vero Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Carter and sister, Joyce Carter. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Carmean) Carter; children, Joyce (Doug) Carter Gray of Plano, TX, John Kevin (Patricia) Carter of Pickerington and Jeffrey D. (Terri) Carter of Circleville; grandchildren, Grace Perez of Plano, TX, Joan Bond of Dallas, TX, Amanda Watson of Columbus, Meredith Carter of Pickerington, Laura and Jennifer Carter of Circleville; great grandchildren, Katie and Emily Perez and Howard Carter Bond; sister, Nancy (Paul) Mayberry of Circleville; brother, James F. (Lu) Carter of Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Charles) Betz of Vero Beach, FL, Carol (John) Slagle of Chillicothe, Emily and Jennifer Carmean of Kingston; brother-in-law, David (Connie) Carmean of Hallsville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 1, 2008 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Dr. Doyne Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Outreach Ministries.
