John H. Eveland, 83, died April 27, 2009. He was born December 17, 1925 in Circleville, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Brunner) Eveland. He graduated from Circleville High School, June 6, 1945, he was active in the Camera Club and a member of the Stooge Club. In 1952, he married Wilma Hilt, who passed away in 1985 in Circleville. John is survived by his brother, Tom Eveland of Circleville; nephews, Fred, Charles and Robert all of Circleville; niece, Rebecca Mancini, also of Circleville. John was in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Germany and kept in touch with the many friends he made in the service. John worked as a young man at smith Brothers Supply in Columbus and Curtis Wright Refurbishing airplanes as they came back from the war. He followed his great-grandfather, grandfather and Uncle Tom Brunner into T.K. Brunner Jewelers where he worked with family until illness prevented it. He lived most of his life in Circleville and also enjoyed his home in Grove City surrounded by his niece, Jill and nephews, Jon and Jim Legg. John’s sense of humor will be missed in downtown business circles when he would take his daily trips to the post office and Lindsey’s Bakery, not to forget his buddies at Caddy Miller’s Hat Shop. When not in search of cowboy memorabilia and movie posters to add to his collection, he would enjoy everything from the Big Band Era, especially the memories of concerts at Buckeye Lake and trips to the Columbus Palace Theatre. Thanks for the memories, John will be missed by all his many good friends and loving family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Calling hours will be Wednesday April 29, 2009 from noon to 2 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd., Suite 210, Columbus, OH 43229.
