John D. Pontius, 66, of Circleville, died March 22, 2009 at Riverside Hospital surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with lung disease. He was born Feb. 25, 1943 in Columbus, the son of Harold and Maxine (Dreisbach) Pontius. John was a 1961 graduate of Logan Elm H S, member of the Presbyterian Church and founder of Pickaway Machine and Manufacturing. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Joe and Ella Mae Jenkins and brothers-in-law, Jack Jenkins and Jeffrey Clifton. John is survived by his wife, Judy (Jenkins) Pontius; sons, Todd (Kay Lynn) Pontius of Powell, Doug (Kathy) Pontius and Brian (Heather) Pontius of Kingston; daughter Lisa Affolter of Circleville; grandchildren, Tanner, Nathan, Bailey, Allie, Jarred, Jacob, Jillian, Justine, Morgan, Lindsey, Hannah and Nick; sisters, Linda Weiler of Newark and Patt Clifton of Circleville; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Katherine) Jenkins of Dublin, Tom (Barbara) Duvall of Ponta Vedra, FL and Debbie Jenkins of Circleville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church with Pastor William Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Family requests memorial contributions to the Presbyterian Church or charity of choice.
