Joyce Ann (Barr) Butts

Joyce Ann (Barr) Butts, a beloved teacher, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  She was born to Ralph and Roxie Barr on November 9, 1953.  She grew up on the family farm outside of Ringgold, Ohio.  Joyce graduated from Teays Valley High School in 1972, attended Otterbein College, and graduated from the Ohio State University in 1976.  She started teaching home economics at Westfall High School.  After bettering thousands of young lives over 30 years, Mrs. Butts retired in 2006.  Joyce is survived by her husband John, sons Jason and Jared, grandson and favorite person Hudson, brothers Dean and James, and countless friends and extended family who adored her.  Joyce loved her cats and goats, sewing and quilting, dinners with family, and traveling with friends.  Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she touched.  She will be deeply missed, but forever in our hearts.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.  Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home with graveside service following at Reber Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in her honor to places that meant a lot to her: Partners for Paws Pickaway County, PO Box 282, Circleville, Ohio 43113 or Touched by Cancer, Watt Plaza Shopping Center, Circleville, Ohio 43113.  Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
