June H. Marshall, 96, passed away December 2, 2012. She was born on June 9, 1916 in Kindred, ND, to Iver and Stella (Stenehjem) Hertsgaard. She was a graduate of St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, ND. She practiced at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA. She served in WWII as a Captain in the U.S. Regular Army Nurse Corps for five years, and an assistant chief nurse in a four thousand bed Station Hospital at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Mrs. Marshall also assisted her husband, Dr. Eugene H. Marshall in his dental office for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #90, charter member of the Women’s Memorial Foundation, Washington, DC, St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, charter member of the former Pickaway County Registered Nurses Association, and member of the Community United Methodist Church. June was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Eugene H. Marshall; brother, Kermit Hertsgaard; and brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Hunt. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Spiros) Spantithos; grandson, G. Dimitrios Spantithos; sister, Irene Hunt of Paris, TX; sister-in-law, Gunever Hertsgaard of Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Forest Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community U.M.C., Hands for the Disabled, or American Red Cross. The family wishes to give special thanks to Riverside Methodist Hospital, Doctors and Staff, Berger Hospital Doctors and Staff, and Pickaway Manor Renaissance Rehab Therapists, Administration and Staff.
