On April 3, 2010, Lois Ann Rustin peacefully went to be with the Lord. She was born in Norfolk, VA. September 5, 1929 to John and Grace (Dickerson) Trafton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Jack Trafton. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Robert Rustin, sons; Bob (Cindy) Rustin, Mark (Tami) Rustin, and Jim (Debbie) Rustin, daughters; Sally (Roland) Reeb, and Kathryn (Dave) Marcum, as well as 15 grandchildren whom she adored. Lois Ann graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. in 1947 and received her Chemistry degree from Hollins College in 1951. She was a life long supporter and “cheerleader” for the school attending many reunions and visiting classmates over the years. Upon graduation, she worked in Medical Research at the University of Virginia, and in August of 1954 she was introduced to Ensign Robert Rustin by her neighbor, Commander Hart, who also was Bob’s Commanding Officer. They were married February 12, 1955. Upon Bob’s release from the Navy, they moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul where she continued to work in medical research at the University of Minnesota while Bob completed his Engineering Degree. With Bob’s graduation, and his employment with Dupont, she became a full time wife and mother. They moved initially to Buffalo, New York, and in 1963 to Circleville. She loved the Circleville community and was involved as a Library Trustee for 14 years, a member of Roundtown Players, and was in the High Fever Follies. Lois Ann was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council, sang in the choir, played hand bells, and was active in the Women’s organizations as well as other various jobs and committees. Throughout the years Lois Ann’s three greatest loves and areas of focus were her Church, her family of whom she was immensely proud, and her dogs. She cherished family vacations, and the large family gatherings that would take place to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and any other opportunities to spend time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a true matriarch of the Rustin family, and will be dearly missed. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 8, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Memorial contributions may be made to Berger Hospice 600 N. Pickaway St. Circleville, OH 43113 or Trinity Lutheran Church 135 E. Mound St. Circleville.
