Marian (Conley) Bliss

Marian Rose (Conley) Bliss, age 90 of Orient, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 27, 1931, in Harrisburg, OH, the daughter of Challie and Etha (Farrow) Conley. Marian married the love of her life, Irus Bliss, on October 1, 1949. She was a proud matriarch whose family remained her sole focus throughout her life. Anyone who met her immediately felt her warmth and kindness. Her home was always open and filled with life and laughter.

As a young woman, Marian served in the office of the Ohio Attorney General. She was a born leader—and someone who was not afraid to speak her mind. She was cherished by all who knew her, and her loyalty knew no bounds. Marian spent her life caring for and loving those who were fortunate enough to call her family, and teaching important life lessons to all those around her. Her selflessness, sharp wit, and orneriness will forever remain embedded in our hearts and our thoughts. We will smile at every thought of her—every memory. Marian was also passionate in her faith, and taught Sunday school and Bible school in her earlier years.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 69 years, Irus Bliss, and siblings, Delmas (Mary) Conley, Melvin (Margaret) Conley, Marie (William) Jenny, Benjamin (Rosemary) Conley, Juanita Conley, Helen (Darwin) Allen, Challie (Kathryn) Conley, Robert (Marjorie) Conley, and Faith (Loren) Long.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie (John) Valone; granddaughter, Kyleen Bliss Valone; brother, Jack Conley; special family members, Mark, Lisa and Kayle Langford; and an abundance of loving family and friends.

All are welcome to join her family at the Wellman Funeral Home (1455 N. Court St. Circleville, OH) for visitation on Friday, March 18 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 with Pastor Amanda Stufflebeam officiating. Interment will follow at the Muhlenberg Township Cemetery (16905 London Rd. Orient, OH). Memorial contributions may be made to the Derby United Methodist Church (11792 London Rd. Derby, OH), where Marian and Irus began their amazing journey from wedded to eternal Bliss.
