Mrs. Marie (Dumm) Troehler of Circleville, Ohio left this life for her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. She was 99 years old and would have celebrated her 100th birthday on June 24th. She was a resident of the Circleville Care and Rehabilitation Center at the time of her death.
Marie was born June 24, 1913 in Pickaway Township to the late Edward Otho and Josie (Grove) Dumm. She was preceded in death by her 10 sisters and brothers: Hazel Dumm, Gertrude(Howard) Metzger, Helen(Ralph) Strous, Mabel(Jud) Poling, Elizabeth(Bernard) Carle, Mary(Edgar) McClure, Cleve(Dorothy)Dumm, Marvin (Mary)Dumm, Grover(Ruth)Dumm and Woodrow(Mary)Dumm. Marie was married for 60 years to the late Oscar A. Troehler of Circleville. They were wedded on November 2, 1941. Mr. Troehler was a WWII veteran and a custom home-builder in the Circleville area. Their marriage was temporarily interrupted when Oscar passed away on December 7, 2001. Marie attended Pickaway Township Grade School and graduated from the “New” Pickaway Township High School in 1931. Marie began working outside the home during WWII. She worked at Stifflers, Proctor Silex, G. C. Murphy and retired in 1975 from General Electric where she worked in Quality Control. Marie was a woman of faith. She was a life-long member of Emmett Chapel United Methodist Church. She began attending Emmett Chapel as a young girl and it was there she accepted Jesus as her Savior. Marie served as a Sunday school teacher to the youngest children whom she loved dearly. She was the church secretary, choir member as well as a member of the Ladies Aid Society and Women’s Christian Society. She loved making chili for the church booth during Pumpkin Show each year. Marie was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the 36th Infantry Division—Women’s Auxilary. Marie is survived by her 2 children, Stephen A. (Kathleen) Troehler of Lewisburg, Ohio and Connie (Elmon) Richards of Circleville; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Kristi) Carithers, Lisa (Matt) Vititoe, Jonathan (Kimberly) Troehler, Matthew (Lane) Troehler, Ashley (Chris) Cowan, Brock (Celeste) Richards and 7 great-grandchildren: Rylie, Jacob, Austin, Kale, Kennedy, Harper, Krue and 2 baby girls on the way, Madeline and Lyla. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday June 20, 2013 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family would like to thank the many staff members at the Circleville Care and Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice of Circleville for the incredible care and love they showed our mother during her final years of life.
