Martin R. Sharrett, 80, of Circleville, died April 19, 2009 and entered into his Fathers arms to be with his family at home. He was born April 15, 1929 in Springfield, OH to the late Harry R. and Anna (Dodd) Sharrett. He was second of seven children. He was married April 10, 1949 to the former Gertrude “Trudy” Emerson who survives. He was the father of seven children. He is survived by his children, d’Lee Blankenship, Martin II, J. David, Gayle (David) Spangler, Stephanie (Ted) Robinson, Jay (Lynda) Sharrett and Rick Bumgarner; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Hasan Hasson) Sharrett; brothers, Ron (Stralsa) Sharrett, Tom (Pat) Sharrett and Jon (Norma) Sharrett and brother-in-law, Carl Hohenstine. He was preceded in death by his daughter, d’Ann; 3 grandchildren and brother, M. Jean and sister, Martha Hohenstine. He graduated from Pickaway Twp. School in 1947. He was the owner of the Pickaway Arms Restaurant, worked for the Pickaway County Soil Conservation 1948-51, Emerson Brothers Trucking of Logan, ran the Scenic Hills Truck Stop 1951-69, was Tri-County Community Action Director 1964-69, and from 1969-72 was the manager of L&K Restaurant and worked BLB Transport until his death. He was civically active and involved in several organizations including Jaycees, Kiwanis, Roundtown Players and Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed watching athletics and activities of his grandchildren. Graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday April 24, 2009 at Meade Cemetery with Pastor Keith Davis officiating. Friends may call at the Sharrett home 453 N. Court St. from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church. Arrangements were completed by the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
