Mary L. Sauer, 73 of Circleville, died November 7, 2011 at Berger Hospital. She was born April 5, 1938 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of the late Oliver and Blanche (Waterman) Penland. She is survived by her husband, George of 55 years; sons, George III and Matthew (Judy); daughter, Holly (Steve); sisters, Patty, Sally, Deb and Barbara and grandchildren, Randy, Megan, Kylie and Amy. She loved the computer and was self taught and was proud of being a MICROSOFT PUBLISHER “MVP” for 11 years; dedicated 4-H leader for more than 25 years and still supports this cause; taught adult literacy; supported youth soccer for years; loved to garden; loved dogs and was an avid reader; delivered meals on wheels; developed St. Philips Episcopal Church website for several years and won national honor for design; won so many blue ribbons at Pumpkin Show for her cross stitching, that they would not let her enter; designed website for Roundtown Conservancy; and corresponded, supported and sent care packages to many overseas soldiers from Vietnam to the Gulf War. Open house will be held at the family residence 407 S. Court St. this Saturday November 12, 2011. Family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, in her name. Arrangements were completed by the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
