Max E. Gay of Circleville would say that the Bible was his road map at age 82 on February 4, 2018 he arrived at his destination Heaven. Max was born June 28, 1935 in Minnehaha Springs, West Virginia to Andy and Daisy Gay. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Moody and Melvin and his sister Bette. Max is survived by his wife of 58 years Katie (Holley) Gay, children Phyllis (Vic) Riffle and Kevin (Denise) Townsend, grandchildren Amy (Joel) Coomer, Jonathan (Heather) Victor, Blake (Carlie) Riffle and Ashton Riffle, Nichole (Bart) Fannin, Kelly (Ricky) Newman, Kailee (Tyler) Johnson and Brittay (Robert) Williams, great grandchildren, Laine and Gage Coomer, Ahmiah Thomas, Caleb and Mikayla Fannin, Brooklyn, Blake and Bryce Newman, Kenlee and Weston Johnson and Clint Williams and many nephews and nieces who loved Uncle Max. After high school at Gallia Academy, Max joined the Navy. Some of Max’s fond memories were serving on the USS Haysworth, as a corpsman at the Bethesda Naval Hospital and the Naval Gun Factory in Washington D.C. Max loved and appreciated his Navy duty and serving his country. He worked at the Gallipolis Tribune starting there as a paperboy and working himself into the composing room. He furthered his career in printing at National Graphic Printing Company in Columbus retiring from there after 35 years. Max delighted in living on the “farm” and riding on his tractor and growing vegetables. You could see his pure joy in seeing children playing and fishing at the pond and observing his deep thankfulness to God as he watched those who were baptized in those waters. His heart’s desire and prayer was that each one of his family would receive Christ as their Savior and love and serve him.
