Max E. Wood, 90, of Circleville, passed away July 20, 2010 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born May 2, 1920 in Sedalia, OH, the son of Glen and Pearl (Mills) Wood. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, 1938 graduate of Mt. Sterling H.S., 60 year member of American Legion. He was owner/operator of Max’s Union 76 Gas Station and other gas stations for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim and sisters, Minnie and Helen. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Wood; daughter, Peggy (Jerry) Grunden and grandchildren, Wesley, Wade and Jenna. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 22, 2010 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery with military graveside honors. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
