Melvin Theodore Davis (Red Tedd), 75, of Circleville, passed away peacefully on July 6th, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 6th, 1939 in Circleville. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Loretta Davis of 36 years. He was the son of the late Alfred and Velda (Quincel) Davis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Julie Davis, Becky (Keith) Young, Valorie (Todd) Huffman, Cindy (Adam) Weiss and Kathy (Don Jr.) Shaw. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Beatrice Gray.
He is survived by many wonderful grandchildren who loved him dearly, Austin and Michealla Huffman, Mason (Melanie) Galloway, Madilyn and Kaitlyn Galloway, Ryan (Becca) Young, Danielle and Lee Brust, Ciera and Chloe Weiss, Anita Young. He also had 3 great grandchildren, along with beloved cousins Jim Davis and Nancy Hartsnaugh and special friends.
He was a 1959 graduate of Circleville High School. He was also a long time resident of Circleville, whom many had known as never meeting a stranger. He retired from DuPont with 33 years of service, and then worked with NAPA Auto Parts for 10 years. He was a Navy Veteran and a former member of the American Legion Post 134, in which he held the office of Financial Officer both locally and through the district. He was a volunteer coach for many years with the Circleville Youth Softball League.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home.
