Mitchell "Brent" Ebert, 70, of Laurelville, passed away on April 18, 2024, at Dublin Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on January 19, 1954, in South Bloomingville, Ohio, to the late Roger and Betty (Shaw) Ebert. A proud graduate of Laurelville High School in 1972, Brent's journey was marked by dedication and community service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Mark Ebert; mother and father-in-law Bill and Thelma Elkins; brothers-in-law Rick and Ron Elkins and Dave VanCuren. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Elkins) Ebert; son, Travis (Jill) Ebert; daughter, Tiffany, and Eric Platt; grandchildren, Cord and Calla Ebert, Braxton, and Addison Platt; brother, Matt (Kim) Ebert; sister-in-law, June VanCuren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, students, and athletes.

Brent commenced his machining career in 1975, eventually establishing his own business before transitioning to teaching at Pickaway-Ross Career and Technical Center as a Machining and Manufacturing Instructor. With 23 years of dedicated service, Brent was set to retire at the end of this academic year, leaving a lasting impact on countless students, guiding them toward successful career paths.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Brent was deeply entrenched in his community, particularly in Laurelville. He served as a former Laurelville Volunteer Firefighter, Village Council Member, and for many years, he held the esteemed position of Mayor, steering the town's progress and welfare.

An avid coach for 45 years, Brent's influence extended to sports, where he mentored numerous players in baseball, softball, and basketball, including his own children and grandchildren.
