Norma Mace

Norma Jean Mace, age 89, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Safety Harbor, Florida.

Norma is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Sherrill of Dalton, GA, Lin Mace Christie of Fairfield, CT, Sally Mace Donohoe of Palm Harbor, FL, and Barbara Mace McLaughlin of Maplewood, NJ. She also has six grandchildren: Leland and Gray Bartlett, Kara Kirkpatrick Polichetti, Jonathan and Eric Christie, Jason Donohoe, and Jessica McLaughlin in addition to four great grandchildren. Her husband, Harold Mace and her daughter, Nancy Donnelly, precede her.

Born on August 16, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, Norma was the daughter of Homer Gray and Bessie Edgington Gray. The family moved to Chillicothe, Ohio where she lived until her marriage to Harold Levi Mace on September 2, 1951. The couple then moved to their farm in Williamsport, Ohio.

Norma was a wonderful mother and wife, busy with family and friends. She was an active woman who was deeply involved in the Wiilliamsport United Methodist Church, Sorosis, and Child Study League for the majority of her life. She was also an avid and dedicated volunteer for many groups and organizations. She helped to facilitate a group of women (Ruth Long, Bev Whitten, Dolly Thompson, Ruth Schleich and Merle Christopher) that dressed in characters- Norma being Happy the clown- that traveled to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and other various care facilities. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring and giving person.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wellman Funeral Home, 1455 North Court Street in Circleville, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 AM with a burial service to follow at Brown’s Chapel in Clarksburg, Ohio. The family would like to welcome all friends and family to attend and celebrate Norma’s life.
